Penny Murray - Project Manager

In the first Meet the Team of 2017, we are chatting to Penny Murray one of our talented Project Managers here at Ultimate. Read on to find out what invention would make Penny’s job easier and what her perfect weekend involves…

1. Let’s start from the beginning. In brief, describe the role of your job at Ultimate and what you do?

My role at Ultimate is that of Project Manager, responsible for the logistics of the furniture installation throughout the UK, chasing suppliers and preparing quotes.

2. All things considered, what type of work is most likely to spark the fire in your brain? What is your dream project?

All our jobs are dream projects whether it is a project for just a chair or a major office refurbishment, the planning and making sure we have staff in place for the installations to take place and making sure that the suppliers have delivered the furniture in the required time frame.

3. What incredible new invention would make your job easier and turbo charge your productivity?

A magic wand that works! So that I can complete all my tasks and challenges in one go leaving me free to tackle other items.

4. When all the hard work is over, what is the most satisfying aspect of your job at Ultimate?

Reports back from the client happy with the job we have done and making their vision come to life.

The world of office furniture is evolving, watch this space.

5. If you could send out just one message that sums up your industry, what would you say?

The world of office furniture is evolving, watch this space.

6. If you could teach one lesson to your younger self about your area of work, what would it be?

Always try and set out your day as to what needs to be achieved (this is not always possible).

7. When a project presents you with a difficult challenge, what is your ‘go-to’ tactic for tackling it?

I usually try and tackle this head on to find a solution; working with a good team can make this possible.

8. Finally, at the end of a long working week, what does your perfect weekend involve?

My perfect weekend would be going round various shows on a summer’s day doing dog agility with the display team I am part of, showing that anything can be accomplished with time, patience and practice.
