desk styling

When it comes to styling, whether at home or work, the prospect of change, or making something your own can be a daunting one. Even for the creative types, the pressure to live up to your inner interior designer on top of the convenience of just leaving your desk as it is, means that many desks and home offices leave a lot to be desired.

Let’s face it, the majority of us spend a large proportion of our day sat behind a desk, so why aren’t we spending a more sizeable chunk of time and effort to make that space the best it can be?

We’re not talking a few post-it notes and a photograph of your dog. This is treating your desk or office as you would any room in your home, with individual touches and lots of personality. It may not be an exact science, but it’s been proven that better work comes as a result of a workspace you are satisfied and happy with. You should be proud of your working space.

Last week we brought you our top tips on how to make the most of your home office space and today we have put together a few of our top tips for creating a desk space you can enjoy working in wherever your desk is:

Find Your Inspiration – What sort of style do you like? Pinterest can be a fantastic resource for pinpointing a particular style. Find something you love for inspiration and let it lay the foundation for the overall scheme. Remember there aren’t any rules, your workspace should be a reflection of you and all of the brilliant work you produce.

Play With Levels – Put up shelves displaying your favourite books or magazine covers, and explore other creative storage options. Having items at different levels can be pleasing to the eye. Candles and minimalistic ornaments give character, while your quotes could look great in a frame or on a miniature memo board. A magnetic noticeboard is perfect for adding some personality to your desk.

Think Practically – Try and avoid littering your desk with anything you don’t need, the last thing you need is distractions! The super minimalist might opt for a plain and simple mouse mat and matching coaster, while some pops of bright colour might be more your style.

What are you waiting for? Use the internet for inspiration to see what people from all over the world are doing with their desks and workspaces.

Getting stuck in with creative ideas is all part of what we do here at Ultimate, for all of our projects we use only the highest quality suppliers and products. We can help you discover just how fun it can be to experiment with styling your space and wave goodbye to the bland desk space!
