We were delighted to once again be the main sponsor for the North East RICS annual Golf Day, which was held on Friday 7th June at Tyneside Golf Club.
Tyneside Golf Club is amongst the oldest clubs in the North East of England, established in 1879 and still widely regarded as among the finest parkland courses in the region.
Perched high on the ‘Falls’ of old Ryton village, the course is tucked away in tranquil surroundings and enjoys magnificent views over the River Tyne and the Tyne valley.
Although mind you the tranquillity was shattered on occasion with cursing that generally followed from the odd shank and slice!
The actual golf day was really well supported with over seventy players of mixed golfing abilities from over seventeen regional surveying firms, all enjoying the golf and great weather.
Co-founder of Ultimate, Mark Naisbitt, and Jodie Green were on hand to dispense refreshments and encouragement halfway round, whilst team Ultimate comprising of Jamie Thurwell, Peter Bone, Colin Clayton and Steve Cowley played out of their respective skins….well they tried anyway.
The day concluded with a delicious BBQ and presentation of prizes by Steve Cowley – Associate Director here at Ultimate for the elite golfers or otherwise referred to by the other players as bandits!
The main team trophy was won by Bradley Hall with 90 points and presented to their team Captain and Director Richard Rafique.
Other winners were as follows and congratulations once again.
Longest Drive went to John Peart of Hanro.
Nearest the pin (over 4 holes) was awarded to Jon Tully (Cable Properties), Mike Cook x 2 (Chartered Surveyors Golfing Society) and John Peart (Hanro).
The golf was not the only great success. Well needed funds where raised via a raffle for Marie Curie in memory of the late Bill Lynn of Lambert Smith Hampton who sadly passed away late last year.
Finally, a special thanks go out to Kevin McGorie Partner at Sanderson Weatherall for arranging and making the day happen once again and for the ladies from the RICS for assisting on the day.
We can’t wait for next year, hopefully we will see you there!
