From its roots in the Industrial Revolution, through to its current place as the UK’s second city, there’s no doubt that Birmingham has had a long and illustrious history at the forefront of British industry and manufacturing.
Birmingham was hailed as the world’s first manufacturing town during the late 18th century. At the height of the Industrial Revolution, the city was home to thousands of small workshops specialising in a range of highly skilled and specialised trades, with jewellery and gun manufacturing being particular strengths.
Things have changed a little since then though, and the economy of Birmingham is now dominated by international commerce, finance and other business services, whilst also being an important hub for transport, conferences, events and retail.
Birmingham is location of choice for a wide range of businesses and as such the city centre boasts numerous office developments, with a number of additional developments currently under construction.
