Equifax are a global data and analytics company offering credit reporting services. For their Nottingham office, they wanted a dynamic, environmentally responsible space to accommodate hybrid working and reduce carbon emissions. Their existing office faced challenges including poor lighting, high energy consumption and underutilisation of space. The objective was to design a high-quality workspace in the EastWest Building for 300 employees, supporting hybrid working, improving productivity and significantly reducing energy consumption.

The design reflected Equifax’s values, emphasising innovation, collaboration and sustainability. The original building shell was retained with energy-efficient lighting, heating and ventilation. The layout maximised access to daylight, with greenery and natural materials promoting wellbeing. Equifax’s brand identity was subtly incorporated through bold colours, dynamic forms and tactile finishes. Vibrant zones were placed near social areas, with quieter spaces for focused tasks, alongside a designated wellbeing space for neurodivergent colleagues or nursing mothers.

The project moved from briefing to design in just four weeks, with construction completed in 10 months. Close collaboration with the landlord and contractor ensured seamless execution. Sustainability was prioritised by avoiding unnecessary demolition and using high-efficiency systems. The variety of workspaces improved employee satisfaction, while the energy-efficient design reduced consumption by 50%. Employees noted the space felt more engaging and reflective of the brand. Natural light, ergonomic seating and flexible hybrid spaces contributed to improved wellbeing and boosted office attendance. Futureproofed for growth, the new workspace supports Equifax’s long-term strategy.
