Hollis and Tandem

Ultimate were appointed by Hollis and Tandem to complete the refurbishment of the reception, first floor landing, breakout and circulation areas within this former wool factory in Darlington. The brief was to refresh the space to support tenant retention and appeal to new occupiers, while still respecting the building’s industrial heritage.

Working in collaboration with our partner, Cocoon and Bauer, we delivered a full fitout that introduced a new palette of finishes, lighting and flooring throughout. In the reception area, bespoke joinery and decorative wall treatments helped create a striking first impression. The breakout space was transformed with new kitchen facilities and informal seating to support collaboration and comfort, while the refreshed circulation areas enhanced flow and connectivity across the building.

A standout feature is the use of a “yarn” motif – a nod to the site’s history – blending the old with the new to create a welcoming and contemporary environment.
