Sedgefield Hardwick Primary Academy, Stockton-on-Tees

Ultimate was appointed to deliver the transformation of the Skylight Centre, part of Laidlaw Schools Trust at Sedgefield, marking the launch of a new model for inclusive SEND provision across the Trust.

Working collaboratively with the school and design partners, Cocoon & Bauer, the project incorporated bespoke joinery, specialist flooring, decorative finishes, lighting upgrades and sensory-focused spaces tailored to support learning, wellbeing and engagement. The scheme was developed through close consultation with the Trust to ensure the finished environment reflected their vision, colour palette and functional requirements.

As part of the final installation, bespoke soft-play floor matting was manufactured and fitted to create safe, durable and engaging activity areas within the facility. The completed environment provides high-quality, child-centred spaces that support a variety of educational and sensory activities.

Headteacher Paul Taylor praised Ultimate’s professionalism, attention to detail and collaborative approach, describing the completed facility as “a lasting difference for our staff, pupils and their families.”
