We’ve read with great interest an article that Steelcase, one of our office furniture suppliers, have recently published on their website. Entitled ‘Wellbeing@Work’, the article questions the way in which people around the world work these days and calls for workplaces that are designed to support the wellbeing of those who use them.
Highly desirable oases where people are less stressed, more productive, more creative, and healthier
The article begins by covering what’s gone wrong with the modern working world – from the increasingly mobile technologies that we’ve all come to increasingly rely on 24/7, to the results of surveys carried out in the United States and Canada which show alarming levels of worker fatigue and depression.
Steelcase’s article highlights the importance of wellbeing at work as this is crucial if we are to ‘produce the kind of breakthrough work, ideas, and solutions that are essential to success in an interconnected world.’
According to Steelcase, the workplaces of the future will support wellbeing whilst being ‘highly desirable oases where people are less stressed, more productive, more creative, and healthier.’ The article concludes by saying that ‘when the physical, mental and emotional factors of wellbeing are fully realized, people thrive – and so do businesses.’
We couldn’t agree more! This fascinating article is available to read in full on Steelcase’s website.
