Tuesday 3rd January 2017 saw Lincolnshire law firm Wilkin Chapman LLP relocate to their brand-new head office in Cartergate, Grimsby – two months after we’d installed their 24,000 square foot space with furniture to cater for up to 250 staff.
Wilkin Chapman LLP appointed us to ensure that their investment in the newly built space lived up to its full potential. The £6 million four-story development is a total credit to the area’s wider regeneration project and we were lucky enough to be a part of it.
Office Manager, Gill Read explains “This is the second relocation project where we have worked with Ultimate – the first being the furniture and storage installation when we moved to our new Lincoln Office in Brayford Pool and on both occasions it has been a very positive experience.
When we started on the Cartergate project the firm had a very positive vision of what we wanted to achieve and Mark had some innovate ideas to help us achieve this aim, adapting desks and filing to cater for each department’s needs.
The whole Ultimate team were very positive and supportive throughout and the project ran without any problems at all, Marks attention to detail ensured any possible problems were highlighted and rectified at the planning stage. We look forward to working with Ultimate again in the future.”
For Ultimate, planning the move commenced in May 2016. During this time, we completed a full audit of all their storage requirements, where in turn we recommended Bisley lateral file combination storage. This product allowed flexibility across the departments and optimised the floor space.
Wilkin Chapman wanted to create multi-use areas within their open plan office; our solution was informal meeting booths, that offered acoustic privacy for one-to-one meetings or phone calls without the need to alter the building management systems. They’re also sensitive to the wider office environment – offering flexibility without taking up too much space.
The furniture we installed has an understated splash of colour, be it their corporate blue, burnt orange or purple, injecting joy and character to the office – through contemporary buttoned sofas, soft seating in the breakout area and the new canteen furniture. Where once everyone sat at their own desk and didn’t socialise they can now sit around a table in small or large groups in a decidedly modern space.
The desks and screens in the main office create a semi-private place for people to work within an open plan space, boosting productivity while adopting a collaborative spirit. We also installed an archiving room with a rolling racking system, boardroom furniture and acoustic screens.
The completion of the building has been featured on the Grimsby Telegraph, with staff celebrating their new building. Mark Carlton, Senior Partner, said: “We have settled in really well. The staff seem highly motivated and are enjoying themselves, it is a fantastic place to work.”
