Overview

We’re on a mission to win big, and we need a passionate Commercial Manager to join us, managing the commercial risk of all secured instruction throughout the pre-construction & operations Lifecycle.

Reporting into the Pre-Construction & Contracts Directors, you will coordinate and oversee the workload of the quantity surveyors, whilst working alongside the Pre-Construction Directors in aid of the estimating team.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Risk Management: Manage the commercial risk of a diverse pipeline of fit-out and refurbishment projects, from pre-construction to operations/delivery, ensuring cost-effective and risk-conscious project execution.
  • Tender Adjudication and Review: Collaborate with the Pre-Construction Director in tender adjudication, review, and commercial risk assessments to support the delivery of accurate and consistent project bids.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with the Pre-Construction Director, Contracts Director, Bid & Delivery teams, and other stakeholders during various phases of the pre-construction and project lifecycle.
  • Monthly Commercial Reporting: Host monthly commercial meetings with department heads and directors to present commercial forecasts and risks, keeping stakeholders informed of project financial health.
  • Quantity Surveyor Assignment: Request and assign quantity surveyors to awarded projects, and manage their daily operations, ensuring efficient cost control and reporting.
  • Team Management: Manage the efforts of the Pre-Construction staff, quantity surveyors, and contracts managers as they prepare detailed tender submissions, commercial reports, forecasts, contract reviews, and amendments.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough tender adjudication to identify and mitigate commercial risks, aiding the Pre-Construction team in risk assessments, addendums, and contract reviews.
  • Commercial Risk Analysis: Prepare and analyze commercial risk during the pre-construction phase and project delivery timeline, identifying potential areas for improvement and cost optimization.
  • General Conditions: Collaborate with pre-construction and operations teams to assemble General Conditions that align with project objectives and expectations.
  • Process Improvement: Review and develop commercial processes to enhance performance and maximize profitability, keeping up-to-date with industry trends and innovations.
  • Leadership in Commercial Process Improvements: Identify opportunities for leading commercial process improvements in collaboration with Directors and operations teams.
  • Policy and Procedure Adherence: Develop and ensure adherence to commercial policies and procedures, as well as other corporate policies and procedures, among staff.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in meetings with owners, Directors, UCIL personnel, subcontractors, and other relevant parties to support the pursuit and execution of UCIL work.
  • Commercial Targets: Establish and track commercial targets, driving improvements through process optimization, product, and supply chain development, and people management.
  • Legal Consultation: Consult with legal teams on contract addendums and contractual risks to protect the organization’s interests.
